Case background
In July 2023, Mr. X received a text message claiming that his credit card points were about to expire and provided a link to directly redeem cash. After clicking the link, Mr. X entered a website that was almost identical to the bank's official website and filled in the credit card number, password, SMS verification code and other information as required, hoping to redeem points.

A few hours later, Mr. X received multiple consumption reminders and found that his credit card was stolen and spent a total of about 500,000 yuan on major e-commerce platforms and virtual payment channels. He immediately called the bank to freeze the card, but was told that such fraudulent consumption might be difficult to recover. Recommended by a friend, Mr. X contacted us for professional help.

Our intervention and recovery process
Quick action & evidence collection
After receiving the request for help, we immediately instructed Mr. X to save all relevant evidence, including fraudulent text messages, screenshots of phishing websites, bank transaction records, etc. At the same time, we assisted Mr. X in reporting the case to the public security organs and established contact with the bank's risk control department.

Through technical analysis, we found that this was a well-designed phishing website that copied elements of the bank's official page to steal sensitive user information. We tracked the server location of the phishing website and analyzed the flow of funds. We found that the stolen funds mainly flowed to the merchant accounts of several e-commerce platforms and virtual goods trading platforms.

Multi-party linkage & recovery action
We took action in three directions at the same time: first, we assisted Mr. X in submitting a "Written Statement on Credit Card Transaction Disputes" to the bank, claiming that the transaction was not authorized by him; second, we contacted the e-commerce platform involved, provided a criminal case filing certificate, and applied for the freezing of merchant funds; third, we cooperated with the UnionPay Payment Center to track and intercept funds that have not yet been withdrawn.

Through cooperation with the security department of the e-commerce platform, we found that multiple accounts used by the fraud gang were related, and successfully locked some virtual goods transaction records. We quickly cooperated with these platforms to freeze the relevant transactions and accounts, and assisted the police in obtaining the transaction IP and account registration information.

At the same time, we cited the "Bank Card Business Management Measures" and "Payment and Settlement Measures" and other regulations, emphasizing the bank's security reminder obligations and transaction verification responsibilities, and proposed to the bank that some responsibilities should be shared.

Successfully recovered funds
After 1 month of close cooperation, we helped Mr. X recover about 425,000 yuan, with a recovery rate of 85%. This includes: 150,000 yuan in compensation borne by the bank; 200,000 yuan recovered by freezing the merchant account on the e-commerce platform; and 75,000 yuan recovered from the virtual goods trading platform. The remaining losses mainly came from transactions that had been cleared and could not be traced.

Customer testimonials
Mr. X said: "When I saw that 500,000 yuan was stolen, I was almost desperate, and the bank's attitude made me feel helpless. The Global Anti-Fraud Organization is not only professional and efficient, but more importantly, they take action from multiple angles at the same time, forming a joint force with banks, e-commerce platforms and law enforcement agencies. Without their help, I would not have been able to recover so much money in just one month. Thank them sincerely!"

Prevention suggestions
For credit card fraud, we recommend that the public: do not click on suspicious links in text messages; banks will never ask users to provide complete credit card information through text messages; check whether the website address is correct when visiting the bank's website (especially the https encryption logo); do not fill in sensitive information in unofficial channels; turn on credit card consumption SMS notifications and set consumption limits; check bills regularly; if you encounter any suspicious situations, contact the bank's customer service immediately.
